Meet the farmer

In the lush highlands of Chontalí, Peru, the Quispe family, led by Roger Quispe, has dedicated themselves to cultivating one of the most renowned coffee varieties in the world—Geisha. Roger, alongside his brothers and father, oversees the family’s operations, which take place at elevations ranging from 1,897 to 2,050 meters above sea level. This high-altitude environment, paired with their careful farming practices, contributes to the exceptional quality of their coffee.

Coffee story

Gesha is one of the world’s most coveted and limited coffee varieties, cherished for its elegant florals and refined, honeyed sweetness. This lot undergoes an anaerobic washed process – fermented in oxygen-free tanks to intensify its vivid fruit notes while maintaining exceptional purity and balance.

Growing region

Chontalí, in Jaén, northern Peru, offers rugged terrain and ideal conditions for high-quality Arabica coffee. At 1,500–2,000+ meters, with rich volcanic soil and a cool, stable climate, varieties like Bourbon and Geisha grow exceptionally well.

Its forests, rivers, and natural shade create a biodiverse environment that enriches the soil and supports slow cherry maturation, boosting flavour complexity. Chontalí’s coffees –especially Geisha – are known for vibrant acidity, floral aromas, and tropical fruit notes. As interest in Peruvian Geisha rises, the region is earning recognition for world-class specialty coffee, with families like the Quispes at the forefront.
