Meet the farmer

Around 650 smallholder farming families deliver freshly picked coffee cherries to the Worka Wuri washing station during harvest. Their farms sit between 1,900 and 2,100 metres above sea level, where cool temperatures and fertile volcanic soils create ideal growing conditions. Generations of local knowledge, combined with meticulous harvesting and processing, allow these producers to consistently create some of Ethiopia's most celebrated coffees.

Coffee story

This coffee comes from Worka Wuri, a renowned washing station in Ethiopia's Gedeb district, celebrated for producing exceptional speciality coffees year after year. For this natural process lot, ripe coffee cherries are carefully dried whole under the Ethiopian sun, allowing the fruit's natural sugars to infuse the beans. The result is a beautifully expressive cup with vibrant fruit character, floral complexity and remarkable sweetness that showcases the distinctive personality of Ethiopian heirloom varieties.

Growing region

Nestled in the highlands of Gedeb, in the famous Yirgacheffe region, Worka Wuri benefits from elevations reaching over 2,000 metres, nutrient-rich soils and reliable seasonal rainfall. Ethiopia is the birthplace of Arabica coffee, and its indigenous heirloom varieties thrive here, producing coffees renowned for their elegant florals, juicy fruit notes and refined complexity. These unique growing conditions have made the region one of the world's most sought-after origins for speciality coffee.
